Abstract
The paper focuses on the comparison of structural, semantic, communicative and pragmatic features of adjoining constructions and parcelled sentences on the material of the texts belonging to different genres in Modern English and Ukrainian. The criteria for dissociation of an adjoining construction from a parcelled sentence are offered.

Роботу присвячено порівнянню структурних, семантичних і комунікативно-прагматичних особливостей приєднувальних конструкцій і парцельованих речень на матеріалі різножанрових текстів сучасної англійської й української мов. Запропоновано критерії розрізнення приєднувальної конструкції та парцельованого речення.
